It's almost Christmas! It's snowing outside and I've broken a toe (both unrelated) so there has never been a better time to do a bit of Christmas baking. Each year I give something made out of gingerbread to someone in my family, and this year it's a gingerbread train that I made primarily with my nephew in mind (although I'm sure that I'll have a hand in demolishing it! ).
Since I had some gingerbread leftover, I decided to make these Christmas-themed gingerbread cookies. I am going to give these away too, perhaps to my friend Mandy, as I missed her birthday :-(

Happy Christmas!

The first post!

Hi!

Welcome to my new blog, which will follow the developments of "Holmes Chapel Cakes"! I'll be posting pictures of my favourite cakes that I make to order interspersed with posts about new cake trends and seasonal designs.

There is ALWAYS an excuse for a delicious cake (it's my birthday, it's been a bad week, it's raining, I've just made a cuppa - "I've just woken up" is my particular favourite), but they are particularly prominent during celebrations. Important events = parties = cake. This is a fundamental law of the universe and it should never be violated! So I may also be featuring a few articles on products/themes/ideas for event celebrations along the way (think anything from cute party invitations to yummy wedding shoes!).

Enjoy!

p.s. don't forget to take a look at our main website www.holmeschapelcakes.com if you are thinking of ordering a cake!
